Discover Cdm Restaurant

Walking into Cdm Restaurant feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that already knows you. I first stopped by after a morning surf session near Corona del Mar State Beach, sandy shoes and all, and nobody blinked. That kind of easygoing welcome sets the tone before you even open the menu. Located at 2325 East Coast Hwy, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625, United States, the diner sits right along the coastal stretch where locals, cyclists, and weekend explorers naturally converge.

The menu leans into classic American diner comfort with a coastal twist. Breakfast is a big draw here, and for good reason. I once watched a line form just for their eggs Benedict, which comes out consistently with perfectly poached eggs. According to USDA cooking guidelines, achieving a safe yet runny poach requires precise temperature control, and that attention to detail shows. Their pancakes are another standout-fluffy, not overly sweet, and clearly made fresh. You can taste the difference when batter isn’t sitting around all morning.

Lunch and dinner options keep things familiar but thoughtful. Burgers are cooked to order, and the patty-to-bun ratio is spot on. A server once mentioned they source beef from regional suppliers whenever possible, which aligns with California Restaurant Association recommendations on supporting local food systems. That choice isn’t just good ethics; it translates directly into flavor. The grilled chicken sandwich is another solid pick, especially for diners looking for something lighter without sacrificing taste.

What really keeps people coming back, though, is consistency. In the restaurant world, that’s harder than it sounds. A 2023 National Restaurant Association report noted that consistency is one of the top three factors influencing repeat visits, even more than price. At this spot, whether you come in on a quiet weekday morning or during a packed Sunday rush, the food and service hold steady. I’ve tested this myself more than once, bringing out-of-town friends who expect tourist traps and leaving with them pleasantly surprised.

Reviews around town often highlight the staff, and that praise is earned. Servers remember regulars’ orders, and even first-timers get patient explanations of menu favorites. One afternoon, I overheard a staff member walk a family through allergy-friendly options, calmly explaining how certain dishes are prepared and what can be modified. That transparency builds trust, especially as food sensitivities become more common. The CDC reports that food allergies affect roughly 1 in 13 children in the U.S., so clear communication matters.

The location also plays a role in its appeal. Being right on East Coast Highway makes it accessible without feeling hectic. There’s a steady rhythm of locals popping in before work, retirees lingering over coffee, and visitors checking reviews on their phones to see if the hype is real. In my experience, it usually is. The coffee stays hot, refills come without asking, and nobody rushes you out the door.

There are limitations worth noting. Parking can be tight during peak hours, and on especially busy mornings, wait times stretch longer than some might like. Still, most diners seem to accept that as part of the experience. When a place balances reliable food, friendly service, and a laid-back atmosphere, a short wait feels like a fair trade.

All told, this diner fits comfortably into the fabric of Corona del Mar. It’s not trying to reinvent anything, and that’s exactly why it works. You come for a good meal, you leave satisfied, and chances are you’ll be back-maybe even enough that the staff starts remembering your order too.

  • Great decor, atmosphere. Customer service was exceptional. Loved the drinks. Food was delicious- try the rolls and apps. Loved that they even wrote a personalized card for the birthday boy from the whole staff.

  • My friend was visiting from LA, and we were on the hunt for a spot that had great food, a cool beachy vibe, and good energy. After poking our heads into a few places in the village, nothing felt quite right—until we walked into CdM Restaurant. Instantly, we loved it. The light was pouring in through the windows, giving the space a warm, sunlit glow, but it still felt intimate and cozy. They had electronic music playing in the background—it was the perfect Saturday afternoon vibe. Parking was a breeze right on PCH, which was a nice bonus. We were seated right away by the hostess at a great table for two, and our server Ruby was an absolute gem—sweet, helpful, and spot-on with her recommendations. We started with the yellowtail on crispy fried eggplant (so good), shared the chopped salad (super fresh and flavorful), and split the blue cheese burger (my knees were tingling). Everything was delicious. We each had margaritas—mine with tequila, my friend’s with mezcal—and they were perfectly balanced. The drinks, the food, the music, the ambiance… it all came together effortlessly. Alberto also helped us and was outstanding. Not only was he friendly and professional, but he had so much knowledge about the brand and the owner’s other ventures—from A Market on PCH, to Crystal Cove, to a restaurant in Long Beach, and even the Lido Theater. As a local real estate agent, I’m always asking questions to better understand my community, and Alberto represented the company with genuine pride and passion. I also learned from Ruby about their members-only cigar lounge upstairs (which I’m now determined to check out—my friend’s a member and has been inviting me), and the speakeasy-style bar downstairs, which I had no idea existed, and thus area can even be reserved for private events. All in all, it was an amazing first-time experience. Great service, great food, great vibe. I’ll definitely be back—and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting or living in the area.

  • Welcoming and prompt service! The food came out extremely quick. Sometimes, staff could be too eager and take plates away when we are still working on it. They're just being proactive, but it can be disruptive to the meal. It's not a bad thing, but dialing back would be appreciated. Overall, it was a great evening with well-made dishes. Ambiance was lovely. Wednesdays is wine night, which means 50% off wines by the glass and wine bottles! Go on Wednesdays! I will surely come back someday! Valet parking is $7 behind the restaurant.

  • I love the vibe of this place! This was my second time dining at CDM, and I have to say the food, drinks, and service remain consistent. We had Mia as our server, and she more than delivered. We made it just in time for HH which got us some pretty good deals on cocktails and appetizers. We started with the Cauliflower Hummus and Pita Bread it is simple, but so creamy and flavorful. I loved everything about it. The Charred Octopus with roasted potatoes was also perfectly cooked to my liking. For mains, I went with the Black Tiger Shrimp + Linguine. It was delicious, but sadly I didn’t finish it (I don’t eat pasta often but indulge every now and then just took the rest home). My boyfriend ordered the CDM Fancy Pizza and finished the whole thing so I’ll let that speak for itself. Lol. We tried a few cocktails their Sam’s Old Fashioned, the Blood Orange Sour, plus a glass of wine. For dessert, we ordered the Corn Madeleines this is our second time getting them and honestly, they’ve become our favorite. Overall, a great experience once again. Mia truly made it even better! She was juggling a lot but still made sure we were well taken care of. Thank you Mia and CDM! We’ll definitely be back.

  • I made reservations at this restaurant to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary since we were staying at the VEA. It was close and the only restaurant that caught my attention. And kind of nerve wrecking to just pick out a restaurant without having been there before. We were hoping to have a romantic experience and mainly delicious food. First impressions, the inside is very beautiful. Unfortunately they gave us a high top table and my husband was uncomfortable on the stool. That aside, the food is amazing. It didn’t disappoint. The drinks were great. My favorite was the octopus appetizer. My steak was cooked a well done even though I asked for medium. They corrected that mistake which we had to wait and meanwhile my husbands dish was getting cold. We did mention it was our anniversary since the beginning. I was hoping they would bring a little dessert that said Happy Anniversary to make up for the mishap. Nothing was offered. Yet the couple on the side got a birthday cupcake. Just saying.

  • Great place overall, but it's not really suitable for kids (just in case you're planning to bring them). It's perfect for a romantic date or a fancy party

  • My husband and I had such an amazing experience at CDM last night that I felt compelled to write a review. It was our four year anniversary and I am also eight months pregnant, so date night was questionable to begin with, but we wanted to make it happen. We recently moved to Newport earlier this year and I had bookmarked CDM as a place I wanted to check out. I had mentioned in our reservation that it was our anniversary and I can't tell you how special the staff made us feel with gestures that were above and beyond. Some restaurants don't even read the notes, so I never expect much, but for a first experience at this restaurant, and for a special occasion, it was such a great experience. Our server was top-notch, atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious, but the cherry on top was the service and extra details to make us feel special. We will absolutely be back, highly recommend - thank you!
